I am trying to get my FLI PDF added to the ASCOM chooser manually, since the FLISetup.msi program creates an error whenever I try to install it. I tried running it as administrator and under "previous Windows" mode, but to no avail. I have installed Platform 5.0b and the 5.5.1 update...

I have downloaded the 64-bit USB drivers for the PDF and Windows 7 64-bit seems to register it just fine in the device list. I also was able to acquire the necessary libfli.dll and flifocuserATL.dll files for ASCOM by installing on a Windows XP machine just to get the pertinent files.

Now, I need to manually install the drivers into the ASCOM Chooser. The question you answered regarding this was a good start (http://answers.ascom-standards.org/questions/99/how-can-i-manually-register-a-device-on-platform-5-5-or-later), but the REGEDIT structure specified under the manual install steps was not there.

Is there another way to manually install this driver?

Thanks in advance,
Arnold Iverson

Hi All,

As I had reported in my other question about focuserAPI.dll that the combination CCDSoft and Ascom requires a manual patch up of the libfli.dll issue. Instruction is to copy libfli.dll from 'Program Files/Common Files/Ascom/Focuser'. Contrary to instructions there was no libfli.dll in that location. I did a search and the dll was no where found. I had to search web download sites to get it. In the end used 'http://www.aquest-inc.com/AstroHub/downloads.htm'. This seems to be an older version though and I have had problems with a robofocus interface since.

Can someone provide :

Latest version information for libfli.dll? (file date, size, version ID)

Confirm the version is compliant with CCDSoft and Ascom 5.5

Where to retrieve it?

Thanks & Clear Skies,

I replaced my observatory computer and in the process upgraded to ASCOM 5.5.1. Now my FLI DF-2 focuser is not working with FocusMax. When I select it in the FocusMax setup, and click Properties, I get a popup which says: Failed to load driver: Cannot create ActiveX component. I tried resinstalling the FLI drivers and the ASCOM platform. Anyone have an idea of how to get this working?

Thanks for your help,
Frank
