I currently have version 5.0a and have no issues. I am concerned that I might have issues with drivers if I upgrade. What do I gain by updating to 5.5?

So if you don't need these things there's no need to move. But drivers are increasingly likely to be written to need 5.5. This isn't done to be perverse, it's because of things like the 64 bit support becoming essential. |
